Catherine Munn

Catherine Munn is a graduate of the University of Regina’s BFA program and the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, specializing in drawing and painting.

Catherine works in multimedia and has been making art since childhood on the prairies of Saskatchewan. She moved to Vancouver, BC, in 1987, where she worked as a tree planter for a few years and as a landscaper for more than 20 years.

Working with her hands in the earth and her body under skies that were sometimes glorious and other times punishing, Catherine developed a deep appreciation for the sensual qualities of horticulture. This connection strongly influences her choice to paint landscapes. She has been a realist painter in the past, but lately she takes a more intuitive, more abstracted approach to her work, and for now she is happily committed to “going with the flow.”
