Who We Are

The Burnaby Artists Guild is a nonprofit society, formed in 1970, that aims to promote appreciation of and participation in the visual arts, both among its members and in the community.

The Guild endeavors to encourage and inspire its members as well as assist its members' development by cooperative and self-sufficient programs. Presently, the membership ranges from amateur to professional artists who work in a wide variety of painting styles and subject matter.

The Guild meets weekly on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Studio 106 in the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts from September to May. At these meetings, general business is discussed on the first Tuesday of each month. For the rest of the month invited artists or members conduct demonstrations, painting workshops, or critiques to stimulate, encourage, and inspire its members.

The Guild holds two major exhibitions per year, one in the spring and one in the fall. These shows give its members the opportunity to display and sell their original work. Guild members also participate in various community events in Burnaby such as the Burnaby Blooms Festival. In addition, members also display their work in venues throughout Burnaby such as the Dania Home.
